Islam encourages its ummah to be moderate in everything, including when enjoying iftar or breaking of the fast meals. However, in the excitement of buying various dishes during Ramadhan, some people still get careless and end up wasting food.
The holy month of Ramadhan teaches us to appreciate the blessings of food more, not to waste it. In Islam, waste is associated with a reprehensible behaviour. Waste is not only detrimental from an economic perspective, but can also affect the value of blessings in life.
Ramadan is not just about enduring hunger and thirst, but also training ourselves to be more prudent in spending and avoiding waste.
